Route DDR memory, PCI Express, HDMI, DisplayPort, MIPI, Ethernet, and other fast links within interface-specific constraints. Manage topology, length matching, reference planes, connectors, and compliance-test access.

Lay out matching networks, RF amplifiers, filters, oscillators, connectors, and grounded coplanar structures. Control parasitics, shielding, via fences, launch geometry, and isolation between transmit and receive paths.

Reduce conducted and radiated emissions while increasing immunity to electrostatic discharge, electrical fast transients, surges, and external fields. Plan filters, shielding, bonding, protection placement, and pre-compliance testing.

Calculate component temperatures, junction-to-ambient paths, copper spreading, airflow needs, and enclosure effects. Use thermal vias, heat sinks, derating, and simulation to keep parts within safe limits.

Coordinate board outlines, mounting holes, connectors, displays, keepouts, enclosures, and cable access using 3D ECAD-MCAD workflows. Check tolerances, assembly order, service access, and mechanical stress before fabrication.

Design dense boards with microvias, blind and buried vias, via-in-pad, fine-pitch BGAs, and sequential lamination. Balance escape routing and miniaturization against fabrication yield, inspection, cost, and reliability.

Design flexible and rigid-flex circuits with appropriate bend regions, stiffeners, coverlays, copper shapes, and layer transitions. Account for dynamic bending, mechanical strain, assembly handling, and specialized fabrication rules.

Integrate BGAs, systems in package, fan-out packages, chiplets, and high-density modules with the board. Plan escape routing, power delivery, thermal paths, inspection, rework, and package-to-board reliability.

Apply minimum feature sizes, annular rings, solder-mask rules, panel constraints, fiducials, tooling features, and fabrication tolerances. Review a board with the actual capabilities of the chosen manufacturer.

Generate Gerber or ODB++ data, drill files, netlists, stackup notes, controlled-impedance tables, drawings, and readme instructions. Inspect the final manufacturing package independently of the PCB editor.

Prepare paste layers, stencils, pick-and-place data, polarity markings, assembly drawings, and component handling instructions. Compare hand soldering, reflow, wave soldering, selective soldering, and contract assembly.

Inspect solder joints with optical, X-ray, and electrical methods and diagnose bridges, opens, tombstoning, voids, insufficient wetting, and heat damage. Rework components using controlled tools and documented limits.

Power a new board safely with staged checks, current limits, resistance tests, rail sequencing, clock verification, and thermal observation. Isolate faults using schematics, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal cameras, and controlled modifications.

Add test points, boundary scan, programming access, loopbacks, built-in self-test, and fixtures during design rather than after failure. Create functional tests with clear limits, calibration, traceability, and production coverage.

Use derating, tolerance analysis, worst-case analysis, failure mode analysis, environmental testing, and accelerated life testing. Design against vibration, humidity, corrosion, thermal cycling, and component wear-out.

Use redundancy, diagnostics, watchdogs, safe states, fault containment, and documented risk analysis where electronics can cause harm. Relate system hazards to hardware architecture and verification evidence.

Address electric shock, fire, energy, battery, radio, EMC, environmental, and product-market requirements. Plan creepage, clearance, insulation, labeling, technical files, and laboratory testing around applicable standards and jurisdictions.

Respond to shortages, counterfeits, obsolescence, allocation, and geopolitical supply risk without silently weakening the design. Qualify substitutes, preserve traceability, and plan redesign triggers across the product lifecycle.

Store schematics, layouts, libraries, simulations, firmware interfaces, and manufacturing outputs with controlled revisions. Use reviews, issue tracking, release tags, change orders, and collaborative EDA tools to prevent conflicting or untraceable changes.

Use constraint systems, scripts, reusable design blocks, automated checks, autorouting where appropriate, and AI-assisted review without surrendering engineering judgment. Validate generated suggestions against physics, rules, datasheets, and manufacturing evidence.

Take a connected sensor product from requirements through architecture, schematic, simulation, component selection, PCB layout, review, fabrication, assembly, firmware handoff, bring-up, compliance checks, testing, and release. Produce a portfolio-ready design package with recorded decisions and validation results.
