Use ครับ (khrap), ค่ะ (kha), and คะ (kha) to make statements, greetings, and questions polite. Distinguish the particles by speaker and sentence type.
Use common personal pronouns such as ผม, ดิฉัน, ฉัน, and คุณ in polite introductions. Recognize when Thai speakers naturally omit a pronoun because the meaning is clear.
Ask and answer names with คุณชื่ออะไร (khun chue arai) and ชื่อ… (chue…). Use ยินดีที่ได้รู้จัก (yin dee thii dai ruu jak) when meeting someone for the first time.
Ask how someone is with สบายดีไหม (sabai dee mai) and respond with สบายดี, ไม่ค่อยสบาย, and แล้วคุณล่ะ. Build short, polite well-being exchanges.
Express thanks with ขอบคุณ and stronger appreciation with ขอบคุณมาก. Respond politely with ไม่เป็นไร and ด้วยความยินดี.
Use ขอโทษ to apologize or get someone’s attention, and say ไม่เป็นไร to accept an apology. Distinguish simple apologies from polite attention-getting expressions such as ขอรบกวนหน่อย.
